End Grain Jig for Comb Joints and Dovetails

Untitled Page
There are various ways to use our templates to cut dovetail and comb joints. You can use a handsaw and chisel, a bandsaw or of course a handheld router.

Examining the router option, our End Grain Jig combines simplicity of construction with sturdiness - the perfect option for the woodworker working on one-off or experimental pieces.

The End Grain Jig can't compete with dedicated dovetail jigs for batch production. However for one-off pieces it has key advantages with less time spent setting up:

  • Since the template shows the outline of the finished joint you can quickly establish the depth of cut
  • Use whatever router cutters and guide bush you like
  • Rapid adjustment of the Router Guides (see document download) means you can gradually calibrate for router cutter/guide bush without needing to make a test cut
